fragrances

These are the two fragrances that I need for spring/summer!

This will be the last post for a while because myself, Julia, Katy and Soph are heading to the snow today for a week!

alexander wang

I have a love for all things by Alexander Wang, and his SS12 collection, shown at NYFW did not disappoint. Unfortunately being in Australia, I had to resort to watching the live stream, which is actually the greatest thing (see it here). His collection focused on simple black and white, whilst working with colour and prints. Wang had a strong focus on what he described as 'velocity and speed' in this collection. I loved the modernised floral print as well as the biker-mesh which added an atheletic grunge appeal. Also, notable were the models - all had sleek, wet hair which showed the effortless beauty which really is the essence of Wang's collections.

Below are my favourite looks:

neon yellow at nyfw

I have been keeping updated with NYFW, and procrastinating for my exam, though live streaming of the shows on youtube. The shows I have watched from my computer featured bursts of neon yellow streaking through almost every collection. Past seasons have seen colour blocking of neons, however this  highlighter lemon is a large trend emerging for Spring 2012.

rookie

Blogger Tavi Gevinson has just launched e-zine Rookie.

"Rookie is a place to make the best of the beautiful pain and cringe-worthy awkwardness of being an adolescent girl. When it becomes harder to appreciate these things, we also have good plain fun and visual pleasure. When you’re sick of having to be happy all the time, we have lots of eye-rolling rants, too."

There are three posts a day - five times a week, each month is based around a different theme. September is appropriately titled 'Beginnings' and includes features such as 'Today, I am a Freshman' - which tells the story of the first day of high school.

The posts are perfect, and they inspire a sort of feel-good-summer/90's sense.

ruby

Featured at NZFW last week, the AW12 Collection 'Capital City' by New Zealand based designer Ruby was incredible.  There was a strong focus on prints, emphasised by futuristic, metallic pieces. As well this collection, NZFW saw the debut of their new brand Liam, which was just as spectacular, offering a new take on classic femininity.

Tom Gunn

I love these thick heeled Tom Gun platforms and can see myself wearing these all summer with bright dresses during the day and black at night...

gorman

On an impulse, S and I ventured into the gorgeous shop- Gorman, on Adelaide Street. Everything was on sale which was a plus, but saving for a shopping trip meant I tried not to fall in love with anything too much, (which was oh so hard.) A lot of colour was nice, and made me very keen for S/S.
